Bentong Royale

Bentong Royale is a throwback to the first artisanally crafted peninsular Malaysian oud oils most folks had ever smelled, Agar Supreme and Cantik Candan. After close to a full decade of focusing on distilling oud wood batches from the western states of Malaysia, we came back full circle to Pahang state. And more specifically, Agar Aura's earliest stomping grounds, the jungles of Bentong.

Unlike the fizzy blue-green flavored oud oils of the western edges of peninsular Malaysia, oud from Pahang is decidedly deeper and darker, with a rounded mid-section and inky base notes.

However...
This is a royal level oil, and like any properly-distilled upper echelon oil – just like all top tier raw wood – there are delectable top notes that crown the scent profile.
Several years of aging has given this oil a smooth rounded richness that beautifully ties the various scent facets together, bestowing the oil a seamless scent progression on skin.

The key aroma is of course the classic deep dark Pahang agarwoody aroma, what you smell when your nose into a container full of highly resinated agarwood chips. I like to call it 'oud petrichor'. There's the classic Malaysian peppery-tamarind duo of course, and together with the cinnamon and smooth vanillic sweetness along with the syrupy gula melaka (cooked palm sugar) and cherry notes, it gives this oud a mouthwatering cake-in-the-oven backdrop.
But arguably the single most unusual facet is the delicate cherry blossom (plum blossom?) note. Juxtaposed against the rugged steely-incensy, it makes for an irresistably addictive combo that is going to keep your nose glued to your wrist.

In the world of oud, (after the 🧠⚡️ factor of course) it's the perfect union of opposites that makes for the most addictive oils. Bentong Royale combines many opposites; dark resin and cooling vapor, dry oud petrichor with moist confectionary notes, delicate florals with austere incensy chords.
If getting lost in oud is your thing, Bentong Royale offers a highly captivating portal that can quickly transport you away from the stresses of life.

You have perfected the Sumatran oud oil in Royal Sumatra. I love the green minty notes and the dry down of high-quality Papuan oils, think <...>, i love it, mesmerizing. I can see people referencing to this oil in the future as the gold standard for what a Sumatran oil should smell like.

As for Royal Sumatra, that one is well done. I've smelled a Kyara oil from another vendor. I have to say that your oil is actually wearable. It's more on the mellow side to my nose. I get a combo of sandalwood and florals in the opening and then a mellow Kyara note. I'm going to enjoy wearing that one on Wednesday! Thank you for these high quality oils.

Royal sumatra: beautiful evening , Sitting around a bonfire having toasted bread with jalapeño jelly.
Begins with nice smoky woody smell and then develops into a nice mildly sweet spicy smell.

Royal Sumatra was one of the oils I got to drain on my recent trip to Malaysia. When Taha applied some to my arm fresh out of the pot, I lost my mind. I had never smelled a oud oil like that in my life. Someone asked me what it smells like. I told them it’s a universal oud and has smells and notes from all countries Oud related. When I smelled it there, I made up my mind that this is going to a very special oil which I needed to have. Truly a rare diamond of a oil!

Truly regal oud, ethereal, captivating, delicious. Island oud with cool green and vanilla. And notes that remind me of some feel oud Sabah and Sumatra oils with a Borneo flavor, florals and almost tutti frutti sweetness.

Gorgeous scent with blue/ purple hue. There are gentle kinamic notes that weave in and out. The brain buzz is equal to sitting in a room with Sumatra wood sizzling on low heat. Stunning oil!!!
